BOTOX & Wrinkle Relaxers in Miami

Introduction To BOTOX

Wrinkles, fine lines, and crow’s feet are common issues that arise as we get older. Fortunately, these signs of aging can be addressed non-surgically with the right injectable treatments. Botox, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Daxxify, and Dysport are non-surgical injectable products that can be used to improve facial aesthetics, as well as reduce and prevent wrinkles. We know that not every patient is ready to commit to surgical procedures, so BOTOX and Wrinkle Relaxers in Miami offer a wonderful (albeit temporary) way to treat the effects of aging, without having to commit to the recovery time or pricing of a surgical procedure.

Important note on BOTOX: It’s not simply about freezing facial expressions, it’s about very selectively reducing movement in specific areas to make patients look better. That’s the difference between good botox and bad botox.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is a minimally-invasive treatment that reduces fine lines and wrinkles on your face. It can also be used in several other specialty areas around the face to improve facial aesthetics.

The DETAILED answer:

Botox, Xeomin, Jeuveau, Daxxify, and Dysport are the various brand names and formulations of Botulinum Toxin, which is a type of neuromodulator; a substance that modulates nerve activity. Botulinum toxin itself is a chemical that when injected into a muscle, decreases its activity by blocking the nerve signal to that specific region, which then paralyzes or weakens the muscle. Chemodenervation is a fancy word that describes this process.

Who are the Best Candidates for BOTOX?

How long does BOTOX & Wrinkle Relaxers last?

Approximately 3 months

The DETAILED answer:

The duration can vary even in the same patient with the same type and amount of toxin on different occasions. Most results last around 3 months. We have seen a fair number of patients with results lasting 4 and even 6 months. Although we did not conduct double-blind studies on this, we have not appreciated differences in duration between Jeaveu, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin. Daxxify promises a longer duration.

Some other factors that can alter the duration are how and when the toxin was diluted, the concentration of the product used, how often the patient has been getting injections, and how active is the area being treated.

What’s the First Step?

If you’re interested in getting a BOTOX in Miami, the best first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Zhuravsky. He will listen to your desires for the treatment and discuss your medical history, during which you should be honest and clear to get the most out of your injections and prevent any potential risks or side effects

After Dr. Z has examined your face, he will determine if you are a good candidate for BOTOX and create a treatment plan designed specifically for you. Once this plan is in place, we can start the injection that day. If for any reason you would like to reschedule for another day, our Patient Coordinator will be more than happy to help you find a time that better fits your schedule.

Understanding BOTOX

By understanding the anatomy of facial muscles and being able to identify the difference in each person’s face, we can harness the power of chemodenervation to achieve superior aesthetic results.

The most common areas that we see these products used are around the forehead, crow’s feet, and between the eyes. These areas are particularly prone to wrinkling from excessive movement, so the goal is to reduce wrinkles by weakening the muscles. When the muscle is relaxed, it flattens it out and so does the wrinkle. The toxin also has a secondary effect on the skin itself which helps further improve the results. BUT WAIT, there’s more! The muscles in these areas aren’t just there to give us wrinkles, but they also serve a purpose. The forehead muscle pulls up on the eyebrows, the muscles of the crows feet area pull down on the brows and squint the eyes, while the muscles between the eyes bring the eyebrows down and inward. These muscles not only move when we make facial expressions, but they also have some muscle tone when we are at rest. To make things more difficult, each person has a slight difference in their muscle tone, movement, and orientation. However, if we know how they work and are able to identify the person’s patterns, we can achieve additional benefits such as a small brow lift or improved eye-opening. We can also avoid over paralysis of certain areas that would lead to a very smooth forehead but low heavy eyebrows.

Although the upper face is the most popular for BOTOX treatments, there are several other ways that we can use these concepts around the face to achieve improvements. Among other uses, we can elevate corners of the mouth, treat platysmal bands, decrease masseter tone, and reduce chin pruning or mentalis strain. Many of these “off-label” uses should be performed by an injector that understands facial muscles and how these treatments affect overall aesthetics.

CAUTION: Just because something CAN BE DONE, does not mean it will improve facial aesthetics. One example is masseter reduction. By injecting the masseter muscle near the angles of the jaw, we can create a more appealing and softer lower face. This works great for females with a square face or wide face as it tapers it down into more of a heart shape. However, it can worsen the appearance when the patient has a long or oval face, as it would exaggerate the length. It can also exaggerate jowls by reducing the prominence of the jaw.

If you are interested in any of the other uses, Dr. Z will be happy to explain them, as well as to advise if they are the right choice for you.

What to Expect on the Day of BOTOX

Dr. Z will inject the precisely measured toxin into strategic areas of your face using a very fine needle.

The DETAILED answer:

The injections themselves take approximately 1-2 minutes. The whole process may take approximately 10 minutes as the skin is first cleansed of any makeup in the target areas. Then the muscles are evaluated as the patient is asked to make a few faces to exaggerate the muscles. A very small needle (even smaller than that used by diabetic patients to inject insulin daily) is used to inject at target locations.

BOTOX Recovery

You will be able to resume your day post-treatment and should see results last around three to four months, with some patients seeing results up to six months.

The DETAILED answer:

After your treatment, you will be able to return to your normal routine, with most patients even being able to go back to work right after injections. The primary restriction is to avoid exercise, laying flat, being upside down, or vigorously rubbing the area for approximately 6 hours. Many patients reapply their makeup immediately after injections. While Dr. Z is OK with this, he CAUTIONS to BE GENTLE! Vigorous application can push the toxin into unwanted areas! The injection sites will often have a mild blush (redness) and sometimes mild protuberance for 10 – 60 minutes. The results usually take up to 7 days but some may start to see improvements earlier.
